The company's name derives from a blend of the first names of its founding owners, Clare and Ian, symbolising their dedication to the venture.

In the summer of 2020, Thermal Hire Ltd, a well-established heat treatment engineering company founded in 1974, acquired Clarian UK. This merger combined Clarian UK's strengths with Thermal Hire's extensive operations, expanding their joint capabilities in industrial heating solutions.
